Show plates are everywhere!
Show plates are a great promotional tool for anyone wanting to get that extra attention without investing too much. Show plates can have anything printed on them, from your company logo to a picture which covers the entire plate.
Below is a list of a few places where show plates might be used and why:
- Car Shows - Why are they used here?
At car shows, not everyone is your friend and not everyone knows you personally. So to create full awareness and be remembered on the day, people often design some customised show plates with either their names or business details on as an example, but this could be anything on there. Another reason could be that some people may not want to have their car registration revealed on the day.
- Showrooms - Why are they used here?
Vehicle showrooms use custom show plates with either their company logo on there or possibly text which reads something like ‘0% FINANCE’, this is a quick advertising option for showrooms and costs very little. Another reason for custom number plates placed over the cars is when they are photographed for advertising online; this hides the original registration from potential criminals and keeps it hidden until a genuine buyer views the car.
- Photo and Video shoots - Why are they used here?
Car registrations are often covered during photo and video shoots to either promote the brand the photo or video is about or to take things that bit further in terms of making everything look professional and as it should do. When videos are filmed, not everyone wants their license plates to be on show to the general public when the video is live on a website like YouTube, that’s why a plate which maybe reads the video owners channel name could be on there or something like ‘SUBSCRIBE’ may be written across the plates.

Whatever the use you find for show plates, just remember not to place them over your license plates when out on public roads as show plates are for off road use only and your vehicle’s identity needs to be visible to any authority that may need it.
